Continuing to work on this portrait of Freyja. Trying to find the balance between the softness of the fur without losing the hardness of the underlying structure.
Worked some more on this portrait of Freyja. You can still see where the paint is a bit wet on the face. Pretty happy with how it’s coming a long so far not sure how far I’m going to be able to push it but want to find out.
Started my first canine portrait. This is just the first chromatic pass. Still a long way to go but feeling really good about the start.

Portrait of Julie (detail)
I know I haven’t posted in a while. Haven’t had as much studio time as I would have liked in the past couple of weeks. I got back in there this weekend though. This one is coming along… hopefully not too many more session to finish it up.
Still plugging away on this portrait of Julie. It’s slow going but I’m making steady progress. Not sure about the background still. There was a bit of bookcase behind her in the reference and I kinda like it in general. Still want to do something more abstract but might play with those shapes while doing so.
I’ve been working on this most weekends, haven’t posted in a while though. There’s still a long way to go – haven’t decided yet on the background treatment and there’s a lot of detail in her sweater that I haven’t even attempted yet. I think the portrait is coming along though.
