Quick Update

Haven’t been able to get as much studio time in the last couple of week for various reasons. I did manage to work on the portrait of Dr. Hinkie again this weekend though.

I’ve worked more to resolve the background elements and they’re getting much closer to their final forms. I started in on the left-hand side of the face again though and spent the whole time refining and reworking there. It’s an improvement but just a subtle one. Looking at the photo now I can see that in correcting the red-shift in hue that I had previously I seem to have pushed it too far to the yellow now. The forms of the face are looking very solid and believable – I really need to move on and get the rest of the major elements up to a similar level of rendering.

I’m not entirely sure why I keep reworking the face, it’s good work and I can see improvements ever session but the rest of the surface is feeling quite neglected as a result. I know the light-mass still needs a lot of work in the face but I really need to force myself to move on for a few sessions before I come back there. Hopefully I can find time to get two more sessions in this week on this one.

Here’s an update on the portrait of Julie I’ve been working on intermittently as well.

Still a long way to go and looking at it now, the colors are looking quite patchy across the face though the larger forms look solid. Still a long way to go on this one but now that the portrait of Theo is finished I should have more time to work on this one as well.
