Continuing work on portraits this past weekend.
First up is an update on the portrait of Dr. Hinkie. This one is coming along well and I’m pleased with the likeness for so early on in the process. Still a very long way to go on this one but making steady progress.

I’m torn on where to move next, probably I should finish off blocking in the head to complete that form, but the violin is really a second portrait subject in this composition and, of course, the hands are going to be crucial as well. Just need to keep working.
I have another portrait started as well which I haven’t shared yet. This one is of my partner, Julie.

Good initial progress on this one, pretty happy with the start. Apparently it’s a decent likeness as well as our autistic son, who never really notices my painting slipped into my studio while I was out of the room and decided to gently drag his fingers across the wet paint on the chin of this one.
I also spent some time working on the portrait of Theo that I shared previously but not sure there’s enough changed from the previous image that most people would notice what was done. I’ve got that one fully blocked in now and I can start in on finishing passes of the forms. We’ll see how far I can push the rendering on that one.
