I’ve really enjoyed my time back in the studio. Even though I’m still struggling with my energy levels, I’ve been trying to push through and keep working.
This one I worked on last weekend. It’s going to be another prismatic glass D20 portrait. There’s a lot of nice purples and golds in this one but with the underpainting dead-layer I’m just trying to block out the light and dark masses.

A little bit of glare on surface this morning, so apologies for the image issues but I think this still shows the gist of what I’m doing at this point. Hopefully this one will really start to come to life once the colors are in place.
Yesterday I worked on this one. It’s an obsidian dice with raised faces that have a gradient of rainbow colors across the faces. It should be challenging but I got a good source photo to work from and the underpainting has gone well in blocking out the structures so far.

Again, this one should really come to life once the colors are added in starting with the next layer. Looking forward to working on this one.
Both of these are done with burnt umber and unbleached titanium gradients painted into a couch of thinned transparent red oxide paint.
